Continuous Improvement Workshop at EPIC in collaboration with SMAS

22 Mar 2025

TCEP teamed up with the Scottish Manufacturing Advisory Service (SMAS) to host an interactive business breakfast in Arbroath to support businesses in rethinking their approach to efficiency and productivity in the fast pace manufacturing sector.

Aimed at senior managers and business leaders, the event was held at our EPIC (Engineering Partnership Innovation Centre) facility which is hosted at Dundee and Angus College‘s Arbroath Campus.

The day started with participants engaging in an interactive, team-building exercise delivered by specialist practitioners from SMAS to educate attendees on lean manufacturing principles and how they can continuously strive to improve their business. The purpose of the activity was to encourage businesses to focus on improving quality, reducing costs and driving sustainable change for a better future.

Alongside this, attendees got the opportunity to explore our cutting-edge EPIC facility and discover how embracing automation can benefit their business. There’s often misconceptions when it comes to investing in new technology, particularly around it taking away jobs from people, but this was a fantastic opportunity for TCEP to address any fears or concerns that businesses have.

Participants were also able to get hands-on experience of using new innovative technologies including CNC mills, 3D printers and Cobots at EPIC under the guidance of our expert team.

It has been brilliant to work in collaboration with SMAS and D&A College and we’re looking forward to running more events like this in the future as it not only educates business owners and managers across Tayside but also provides a fantastic networking opportunity.
